Spartan Aviation Services will be the Canadian In-Service Support (ISS) Integrator if the C-27J is selected as the Royal Canadian Air Force's (RCAF) next Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) aircraft.
Spartan Aviation Services pairs Leonardo Aircraft's 100 years of aircraft design, manufacturing and support with General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada's long track record of supporting Canada's Armed Forces. Spartan Aviation Services will be responsible for the delivery of the entire ISS program and will be supported by a strong partner network in Canada including: KF Aerospace, DRS Canada, TRU Sim, Rolls Royce Canada, Standard Aero, CAE, CMC Esterline, L3 Wescam and ATCO.
The C-27J is a solution that meets the demands of Canada's incredibly large area of SAR responsibility with a single aircraft fleet. Along with a capable aircraft, this FWSAR solution comes with a commitment to deliver 100 percent of contract value industrial offsets and benefits in the form of hundreds of long-term jobs and far-reaching investments in Canadian firms and technology.
Working with Team Spartan’s ISS integrator, KF Aerospace will provide long term maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) as well as engineering and supply chain support services for the C-27J FWSAR fleet across Canada. KF Aerospace operates and leases over 70 aircraft; is Canada’s largest cargo operator; is a leading aircraft maintenance, modification and manufacturing organization; is a Transport Canada Design Approval Organization and a DND Recognized Design Approval Organization (Engineering); owns the type certificate for the Convair aircraft; and is a Transport Canada Approved Training Organization delivering training to a wide range of aviation companies. KF Aerospace’s full service Aircraft Maintenance Operations focuses on heavy aircraft maintenance, overhaul, and modifications with major facilities in Kelowna, BC and Hamilton, ON. This includes mechanical, structural, avionics, interiors, engine, landing gear, parts supply, and fleet management with a focus on B727, B737, B757, B767; DH-8, Q400, Buffalo, Twin Otter, and Convair 580 / 5800 stretch.

Esterline CMC Electronics has been selected to provide the flight management system (FMS) for its worldwide C-27J Spartan fleet and for Team Spartan’s offering for the upcoming FWSAR (Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue Replacement) Program. Esterline CMC Electronics was also recently selected to supply its TacView® Portable Mission Display and SureSight® Enhanced Vision System sensor for Team Spartan in Canada.
