Afghanistan: ready over 400 Italian soldiers, airplanes and helicopters

Rome, Italy - Today the announcement by the Minister of Defense Ready for Afghanistan over 400 soldiers destined to the Italian contingent. They will be added to the already present 2,800 units in order to contribute to the Country's security on the occasion of the presidential election scheduled on August 20th. 400 Army soldiers will leave in July, 40 Air Force's units with two C-27J Spartan strategic transport aircraft and three AB-212 helicopters will leave in August. The Carabinieri contingent, involved in the training for the Afghan security forces, will be doubled from 50 to 100. The announcement was given today by the Italian Minister of Defense, Ignazio La Russa, before Defense Commissions of Chamber and Senate.
